Starbucks Makes You Morning Fix Easier

Starbucks coffeeHear ye! Hear ye! All coffee addicts worldwide please turn your attention to this news!! Starbucks (SBUX: Nasdaq) is now bringing your morning fix of caffeine one step closer to your doorstep.

The U.S. based coffee retailing giant is getting ready to launch a new service, for food and beverage, in select markets sometime in mid-2015. The announcement came during yesterday’s conference call. Now imagine this: calling Starbucks, placing an order for a bagel with lox and cream cheese along with your favorite salted caramel mocha latte and having it delivered to your desk or front door at home.

Like Starbucks chief Executive Officer (CEO) Howard Shultz said, “That’s our version of e-commerce on steroids.” He is not kidding.

This delivery system is set to be available to Starbucks loyalty program members. It is part of their pay and mobile order app and will launch in Portland, Oregon next month with plans to take it nationwide next year.

Global Chief Strategy Officer for Starbucks, Mathew Ryan says the deliver plan is still in the early development stages. In other words do not expect to hear more about this until the program is moving on caffeine induced speed.

This new announcement come as the retail coffee giant is focusing on ways to adapt to changing consumer behavior. Consumers are starting to shop more online and go into stores less and less. Starbucks hopes to capitalize on this growing trend.

Earlier in the day, Starbucks released its quarterly earnings results. These matched analyst expectations but its global revenue and sales were well off the mark and disappointed analyst expectations.
