Samsung Moves up Product Launch to Compete with Apple

samsung-cupoforexLooks like competing mobile phone and technology giants Samsung Electronics and Apple, Inc. (AAPL: Nasdaq) are taking a bite of the political apple. As with US political announcements they are frontloading launches of new mobile devices. They are doing this to get a jump on being relevant first.

In an article in the Wall Street Journal, Samsung has just moved up its launch of its Galaxy Note smartphone to August from its usual September launch time frame. It was to create further distance from the furor and insanity caused when Apple launches a any of its mobile devices. Last year Apple unveiled its flagship, and record breaking, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, within a mere six days of Samsung introducing its Galaxy Note 4. The Samsung device lost relevancy very fast as Apple shifted to larger screens. That was the big news. Not a new Samsung device.

Samsung has always shown the first renderings of the Galaxy Note at the IFA Berlin conference. They have done this since the Note launched in 2011. However, according to the Wall Street Journal, the company will move the launch date up and to an unnamed major city in the United States.

Samsung is also, reportedly, “delighted” that Apple would follow them into the smartphone market. This according to Rory O’Neill who is an executive at the Korean technology company. He made this statement earlier this year after Apple introduced its smartwatch and poked some fun at Apple finally offering mobile devices with larger screens.

Samsung is hoping to get a profits boost with this announcement. The company’s underperforming mobile unite has hurt the overall economic and financial health of the company. Just recently, Samsung posted its second quarter profits. These showed the seventh consecutive quarter of declines for the embattled Korean company.

As of this time, neither Apple nor Samsung have issued any comments.
