Tepco to promote Director Kobayakawa to president
TOKYO — Tokyo Electric Power Co. Holdings plans to promote Director Tomoaki Kobayakawa to president in an attempt to rejuvenate its management team. Kobayakawa, 53, will replace President Naoki Hirose, 64, who will become vice chairman.
Takashi Kawamura, the 77-year old chairman emeritus at Hitachi, will become Tepco’s chairman. The government asked Kawamura to take the post.
The plan will be decided at a Tepco board meeting; the members of the new management team will begin their jobs after Tepco holds its shareholders meeting in June.
